Christopher Chao, MD is the current President of the College of Urgent Care Medicine (CUCM). He practices Urgent Care medicine with WakeMed Health and Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. After graduating from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, he completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center (now Atrium Health) with a focus on rural medicine. After residency, he worked in rural family medicine clinics for several years before transitioning to full time Urgent Care practice.

Dr. Chao is active with the Urgent Care Association, serving on committees and speaking on a variety of clinical topics in Urgent Care medicine. Locally, he serves as a preceptor to APP students and medical residents and emphasizes teaching of high-quality, evidence-based cost-effective practices in Urgent Care. He is an avid runner and has served as a medical volunteer for several running events.

Kenneth E. Blick is a tenured Professor in the Department of Pathology, now Emeritus Professor, at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Oklahoma University Medical Center where he has served for over 30 years; he is currently Director of Automation/Expert Systems, Point-of-Care Testing, Immunology/Endocrinology Laboratories, Clinical Chemistry, and Director of Toxicology.  Dr. Blick earned his ACS certified B.S. in chemistry from Western Kentucky University and Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.  He also did Postdoctoral training at the University of Kentucky including pathology training at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  Dr. Blick is also a certified Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt.   He is currently a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and a fellow of the AACC Academy/NACB.

Dr. Blick has been active in the AACC for years and especially so in Divisions, having proposed and organized the now permanent Laboratory Information Systems and Medical Informatics Division.  As part of LISMI Division efforts, he originally specified and initiated the effort to develop the now universally accepted ASTM standard for instrument/computer interfaces.  Dr. Blick has also been active in the AACC POC Division serving in a number of leadership roles.  He has also served two terms as Chairman of the Texas Section and was recognized as the Outstanding Clinical Chemist by that section.   He has also worked to bring together the goals of the American Chemical Society and the AACC by chairing the joint ACS/AACC Committee on Clinical Chemistry.  He has also served as chairman of the Oklahoma Section of the ACS and has worked to foster interest in clinical chemistry training as part of the chemistry major curriculum.   Appointed by the Governor, Dr. Blick is an agency head serving the Chairman of the Oklahoma Sate Board of Tests for Alcohol and Drug Influence.

Since joining the faculty at OUHSC, Dr. Blick has taught computer literacy/medical informatics, clinical pathology, and clinical chemistry to medical students, pathology and radiology residents, nurses, and allied health professionals including medical technology students.  The medical technology program also used Dr. Blick’s textbook, Principles of Clinical Chemistry for a number of years.  He also serves as Medical Director of the Rose State/Central State University Medical Technology program.  He has contributed more than 200 publications in these areas.
